Sint-Janshuis Mill and the ramparts
Bruges, Belgium

Sint-Janshuis Mill stands on the eastern ramparts, where windmills once formed an important part of Bruges’ working landscape. The eighteenth-century mill still grinds grain, and visits offer a chance to hear about the craft from the millers. Its raised setting also gives a different view of the city. Check seasonal opening arrangements before planning an interior visit, and combine the stop with a walk along the ramparts to see the other, non-working mills.
