Soneva Jani
Maldives

Soneva Jani is an island resort in the Maldives built around life on and beside a lagoon. Its accommodation, activities and dining are designed to keep the water close, whether guests spend the day exploring outdoors or remain around their villa. Rather than relying on one type of experience, the resort brings together family activities, water-based recreation and wellbeing within the same island setting. Accommodation is divided into beach, overwater and signature villas. Beach villas sit among greenery with access to the shore, while overwater categories offer direct access to the water and retractable roofs. Selected villas add slides into the lagoon, giving the accommodation a playful element alongside its private living space. Larger signature options place more emphasis on room to gather and tailored experiences, so the choice of villa materially shapes a stay. The activity programme includes lagoon exploration, tennis, paddling and an outdoor cinema called Cinema Paradiso. Younger guests have The Den, a dedicated children’s space with a zipline, pirate ship and swim-up mocktail bar. These facilities give families alternatives to spending every day at the beach and allow the island to accommodate different interests within one group. Snorkelling and other activities on the water extend that choice beyond the villa. Wellbeing is another part of the resort’s identity, with Soneva Soul providing restorative practices and a programme that includes breathwork and mindful movement. Dining ranges from overwater breakfasts to meals with feet in the sand, with seafood and garden produce featuring in the resort’s description of its food. The overall appeal is that of a water-centred escape with considerable variety: active days, quieter time, children’s activities and shared meals can all sit within the same visit.
