Songtsam Linka Shangri-La

Songtsam Linka Retreat Shangri-La sits among Tibetan villages and barley fields, with Songzanlin Monastery visible across the meadow. Its buildings follow the stone-house traditions of Kham, arranged along the hillside with trees and flowers between them. The 92 rooms and suites combine Tibetan design with contemporary comforts. Wooden floors, fireplaces, Tibetan carpets and handmade copper objects give the accommodation a strong connection to the surrounding region; family suites offer additional space. Chinese, Tibetan and Western restaurants draw on local ingredients, including the mushrooms gathered in the mountains during the rainy season. A small spa offers Kum Nye Tibetan massage, with bronze baths in its treatment rooms. The monastery and neighbouring village give the retreat a cultural setting as distinctive as its mountain landscape.
