Sorobon Beach

Lac Bay, south-east Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean

Sorobon Beach is one of Bonaire’s most recognisable shore experiences, combining a sheltered lagoon setting with the island’s famous wind and shallow water. Official tourism content describes it as a treasure on the eastern side near Lac Bay, with calm water protected by an offshore reef and ideal conditions for windsurfing. Even visitors who are not taking lessons will find it attractive for swimming, beach time and watching the lagoon in action. The reason it ranks so highly is that Sorobon captures Bonaire’s identity in one place: wind, water, easy-going beach culture and a strong sense of place. It is one of the best options for a half-day on the south side, especially if you want a lively but scenic beach that feels distinct from the dive-centric west coast.
