Tabacón Thermal Resort and Spa lies at the foot of Arenal Volcano near La Fortuna. Its defining feature is a mineral-rich thermal river, heated by volcanic activity and flowing through gardens, waterfalls and bathing pools. Water temperatures vary across the grounds, allowing visitors to move between different sections of the hot springs. Hotel guests have access to the thermal complex and the adults-only Shangri-La Gardens. The spa uses open-air treatment bungalows within the rainforest, extending the property's connection with its surroundings. Rooms and suites provide a base beside the springs, with selected accommodation adding features such as a Jacuzzi or hot-spring shower.
