Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur
India

Taj Lake Palace occupies a white-marble palace in Udaipur’s Lake Pichola, reached by boat from the City Palace complex. Built as a royal retreat, the building passed into Taj’s management in 1971 and retains the scale and decorative character of a residence on the water. Its 65 rooms and 18 suites have been restored with attention to their historic setting. The journey by boat makes arrival part of the experience, while the lake separates the palace from the streets of Udaipur. Concierge-arranged vehicles and excursions connect guests back to the city and surrounding attractions.
