Takoi combines modern Thai cooking with Michigan seasonality in Detroit's Corktown neighbourhood. The restaurant operates HiO Farm a mile to the north, using its produce during the growing season in dishes influenced by Thailand's regional cuisines. The business began as a food truck in 2014, followed by an Ann Arbor pop-up and a permanent Michigan Avenue restaurant in 2016. After an arson attack in 2017, the team rebuilt and reopened six months later under the Takoi name. That independent history remains part of the restaurant's identity. A seasonal patio adds outdoor dining, with orders taken at a dedicated window.
