The Tauese P. F. Sunia Ocean Center is the territory’s best indoor orientation stop for learning about the marine environment, sanctuary resources and local ocean life. It is especially useful at the beginning of a trip, because it adds context to the reefs, bays and coastal stops you will see elsewhere on Tutuila and beyond. Official tourism pages point visitors here for marine exhibits and learning about the National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa. That makes it more than a rainy-day backup: it is one of the few clearly identified interpretive attractions in the territory and an excellent complement to the park’s outdoor places.
