Terramar Museum
Wilhelminaplein, Kralendijk, Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean
Terramar Museum is the island’s strongest compact culture stop and one of the few historic buildings in central Kralendijk that has been renewed for public interpretation. Official tourism text says the museum takes visitors through 7,000 years of Caribbean and Bonairean history, making it a good first stop for understanding the island’s indigenous, colonial and modern layers. Its location in the town centre also makes it easy to combine with a walk, lunch or shopping time. It ranks highly because it offers context that enriches almost every other Bonaire outing. After a visit here, slave huts, plantation houses, Rincon and salt-pan landmarks become easier to read in the landscape. For travellers with limited time, this is the most useful indoor heritage stop on the island.
