The Balmoral

The Balmoral’s clock tower marks the meeting of Edinburgh’s Old and New Towns at 1 Princes Street. The hotel looks towards the castle, placing its interiors and dining rooms in close conversation with the city outside. Rooms and suites draw on the Scottish landscape through Hebridean blues, heather tones, tartan and artwork. Castle View Suites take in Princes Street Gardens and the Scott Monument as well as Edinburgh Castle, while other accommodation offers different views across the capital. Number One explores Scottish cooking, and Brasserie Prince combines French traditions with Scottish produce. Palm Court provides afternoon tea, while SCOTCH holds more than five hundred Scottish whiskies, with whisky ambassadors available to guide a tasting. Irene Forte Spa adds a quieter setting for treatments, sauna and steam-room time. The hotel’s strongest sense of identity comes from that consistent attention to Scotland, expressed through design, food and whisky.
