The Baths National Park

South-western Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands

The Baths remains the defining landscape of the British Virgin Islands: giant granite boulders stacked above white sand, with narrow passages, grottoes, ladders and tidal pools linking the main beach to Devil’s Bay. This is not simply a scenic overlook. The reward comes from moving through the rocks themselves, wading through shallow water and following the marked route as the geology closes in around you. It is best visited early, when the light is softer and the trail is less crowded. Even for travellers who spend much of a BVI holiday on boats and beaches, The Baths feels singular because it combines a beach stop, a short adventure and a natural wonder in one compact outing. If you only have time for one classic land-based experience in the territory, this is the one that most clearly earns priority.
