The Dolder Grand

The Dolder Grand stands above Zurich on the Adlisberg, looking towards the city, lake and Alps. Opened in 1899 and reimagined by Norman Foster in 2008, it combines a turreted historic building with contemporary wings. Its 175 rooms and suites sit within a property whose art collection includes works by Salvador Dalí, Takashi Murakami and Jani Leinonen. The contrast between old architecture and modern art is a substantial part of the hotel’s identity. A 4,000-square-metre spa adds a quieter dimension. Dining includes Heiko Nieder’s The Restaurant, Japanese cooking at Mikuriya and plant-led meals at blooms, the seasonal garden restaurant. The range makes this a city resort with reasons to remain on the hill as well as travel down into central Zurich.
