The Eldridge Hotel

The Eldridge Hotel is an all-suite property in downtown Lawrence, closely tied to the city's Free State history. The original hotel on the site opened in 1855 and was destroyed during the conflict over Kansas's future, then rebuilt by Colonel Shalor Eldridge. Later destruction and rebuilding form part of the hotel's story. Today's accommodation comprises 48 suites following a major restoration and reopening in 2005. Two-room layouts separate the bedroom from a sitting area, with some including dining space, a wet bar, refrigerator and microwave. A history room and guided tours offer a direct way to explore the building's connection with Lawrence.
