The Lalu sits beside Sun Moon Lake in Nantou, with architecture by Kerry Hill giving the hotel a restrained relationship with the water. Lighting and the arrangement of spaces are carefully considered parts of the design. Accommodation includes lake-view suites and courtyard pool villas. The latter add private swimming areas and a semi-open teak pavilion, giving guests a different way to spend time outdoors within their accommodation. The main pool uses an overflow design to maintain a smooth relationship between water and horizon. Dining includes the Oriental Brasseries, a lake-view Chinese restaurant and a Japanese restaurant, with a tea house near the pool. The choice of spaces makes a stay here an opportunity to experience the lake through architecture, food and time at the property.
