The Old House
Nepal

The Old House on Kathmandu's Durbar Marg brings a contemporary cocktail programme into a setting shaped by Newari architecture. Beneath an old banyan tree, the venue connects the character of a traditional house with a more modern approach to drinks and dining. Cocktails draw on Nepalese ingredients including timbur, jimbu, Himalayan juniper and sea buckthorn. House-made preparations and familiar bar techniques give these flavours a central role, allowing the drinks to tell their own stories of the country's landscapes and food traditions. The kitchen follows a related direction, giving dishes such as sekuwa and momo a contemporary interpretation. This makes food part of the experience rather than an afterthought to the bar. Created with mixologists Yangdup Lama and Minakshi Singh, alongside Nepalese partner Desal Lama, The Old House suits an evening built around discovering flavours. Its distinctive address and locally grounded drinks make it a notable stop within Kathmandu's evolving bar scene.
