The Rock turns arrival into part of the meal. Perched on a small outcrop off Michamvi Pingwe Beach, the restaurant stands above the sand at low tide and becomes surrounded by the Indian Ocean as the water rises. Guests can reach it on foot when the tide is low or take a short boat transfer at high tide. Once on the rock, the open terrace gives the compact restaurant an outlook far larger than its footprint, with water and coastline in nearly every direction. The kitchen combines Zanzibari ingredients with Italian influences. Seafood and locally caught fish feature prominently, alongside pasta made in-house and spices from the island’s farms.
