The Root Café began in Little Rock's SoMa district in 2011 with a focus on building community through local food. Its farm-to-table comfort-food approach combines familiar dishes with seasonal ingredients, supported by relationships with nearby growers and producers. The business now also has a Breckenridge Village location in west Little Rock. Breakfast, lunch and dinner menus give each café a role throughout the day, while catering extends the kitchen's work to gatherings elsewhere. The SoMa café retains the original downtown address on South Main Street, with the newer venue carrying the same neighbourhood gathering-place idea into another part of the city.
