The StandardX, Melbourne
Fitzroy, Rose Street; Fitzroy, Australia
The StandardX, Melbourne brings a contemporary neighbourhood hotel to Fitzroy’s mix of independent shops, galleries, restaurants and bars. Rooms range from compact kings to larger suites, with built-in work areas and selected skyline views or balconies giving guests different ways to use the accommodation. The current dining programme centres on Bistro X, where French technique meets seasonal local ingredients in a relaxed setting. On Top adds a rooftop bar that connects the hotel with Melbourne’s social life, while The Box provides a small retail element within the property. The Rose Street location is especially useful for travellers who want to explore an inner suburb with a strong creative identity. Its appeal is the way the hotel participates in that neighbourhood rather than relying on extensive resort facilities. Choose it for a stay built around walking, independent businesses and informal evenings, with the room providing a comfortable base and the shared spaces keeping the experience sociable.
