The Temple House
Sichuan

The Temple House is now Upper House Chengdu, following its October 2025 renaming. Hidden among the lanes of Taikoo Li, the hotel combines former temple grounds with modern design, using heritage courtyards and landscaped terraces to give a central stay a quieter rhythm. Guests enter through Bitieshi, a restored Qing-dynasty building once associated with scholars and translators. It now contains a library and contemporary art, making the arrival itself part of the hotel's cultural character. There are 100 rooms and 42 serviced apartments, with larger options providing more residential space. Mi Xun Spa offers treatments drawing on Chinese practices and Western therapies, while the dining collection includes Tivano, Jing and Mi Xun Teahouse. The property suits travellers interested in the relationship between Chengdu's old architecture and its contemporary city life.
