Togo Chasm

South-east coast, Niue

Togo Chasm is the island’s great inland-beach walk: a dramatic hike through coastal forest and jagged limestone that finishes in a hidden sandy basin ringed by cliffs. The experience feels more remote and adventurous than the easier northern coast walks, and that sense of arrival is a major part of its draw. It ranks highly because it is one of Niue’s most complete outdoor adventures. The track itself is part of the reward, and the final chasm is unlike the island’s swimming pools and cliffside lookouts. Visitors who want one signature “big walk” should prioritise Togo, especially if they are already comfortable with reef shoes, uneven limestone, and a longer, more exposed route than the easier family-friendly options.
