Tower of London

The Tower of London is one of the capital’s clearest single-site introductions to royal, military and ceremonial history. Historic Royal Palaces confirms that it is operating and publishes live visitor hours; for Sunday 18 October 2026, the site is open 10.00–17.30 with last entry at 16.30. The official operator recommends allowing two to three hours, which feels realistic given the number of included elements on the estate. A standard admission ticket covers the Crown Jewels, a Yeoman Warder tour, the ravens, the White Tower, the Medieval Palace, the battlements, Tower Green, the Bloody Tower and other public outdoor areas, so this is more than a quick photo stop beside Tower Bridge. It also works well logistically for visitors staying in central London. The operator’s travel guidance places the entrance within five minutes’ walk of Tower Hill Underground station, with Tower Pier beside the entrance for river services and several bus routes nearby. Access has to be understood honestly: this is a historic fortress with cobbles, uneven ground, stairs and some restricted wheelchair routes. Even so, key areas such as the Jewel House have level access, staff can stop the moving walkway by the Crown Jewels, and mobility aids plus some lifts and ramps are available. Ranked second here, it earns that place through substance, not just skyline recognition.
