Union League Cafe
Connecticut

Union League, formerly Union League Café, serves French cuisine across from Yale University’s Old Campus in New Haven. Classical French traditions guide the kitchen, while contemporary preparations draw on local and organic fish, meat, cheeses and produce, alongside specialist ingredients from further afield. Wine remains an important part of the restaurant’s dining experience. The building stands on the former homestead of Roger Sherman, New Haven’s first mayor. The later townhouse became the home of the Union League Club and retains a Beaux-Arts architectural character. Recent restoration has renewed the dining room, lounge and historic features, giving the current restaurant a close connection to the site’s civic and social history.
