Vida occupies a corner of Indianapolis's Lockerbie neighbourhood on East New York Street. Chef Thomas Melvin builds the cooking around seasonal produce from Midwestern farms, combining precise technique with influences from beyond the region. Diners choose between a seven-course tasting menu and a four-course prix fixe, with the latter offering several choices at each stage. Wine director Jared May gives Burgundy and California particular attention, alongside wines by the glass, reserve bottles and tasting-menu pairings. Each table follows the same menu format, so the choice between the two experiences is made collectively.
