Walk through Bhaktapur’s historic squares

Bhaktapur deserves several hours of walking between its squares and narrow brick streets. Begin with Durbar Square’s palace façades and Golden Gate, then continue towards the five-tiered Nyatapola Temple and Dattatreya Square. Carved wooden windows and pottery give smaller stops plenty of interest between the major monuments. Leave time to wander rather than rushing through a fixed circuit, and consider staying for a meal after the busiest sightseeing period.
