Wallblake House
The Valley, Anguilla

Wallblake House is Anguilla’s most important surviving plantation house and the island’s clearest architectural link to the colonial era. Its appeal is quiet rather than theatrical, but that understatement suits the destination: on an island where inland heritage is limited, this house carries unusual weight as a tangible survivor from an earlier Anguilla. It remains highly ranked because it adds genuine historical substance to a trip dominated by beaches. Visitors interested in architecture, society and the island’s older settlement patterns will get more from it than those searching for a long, heavily interpreted museum visit. Even so, it is one of the essential non-beach stops in Anguilla and worth the modest planning it may require.
