Dining at Wild Coast Tented Lodge connects Sri Lankan food with the coastal setting beside Yala National Park. The kitchen uses island ingredients as the basis for its cooking, with the surrounding land and sea providing the context for the meal. After an evening game drive, cocktails and canapés are served in the beach garden overlooking the ocean. This gives dinner a different rhythm from a conventional hotel meal, with wildlife excursions and time at the table belonging to the same day. A Sri Lankan cookery class offers a more hands-on introduction to the island’s food. Seafood also forms part of the dining experience. The lodge’s food offering is therefore a substantial element of the stay, extending interest in Sri Lanka beyond the safari itself.
