Zannier Sonop

Zannier Sonop rises from granite boulders in southern Namibia, placing ten tented suites above a landscape of open plains and distant dunes. Its interiors draw on the atmosphere of a 1920s expedition, with the surrounding desert supplying a much larger sense of scale. One- and two-bedroom tents have private terraces and lounge space. The larger accommodation gives friends or families room to share the experience, while the elevation and wide outlook make simply staying in the tent part of the attraction. Desert excursions can include nature drives and horse riding. Back at the lodge, an open-air infinity pool, spa, fitness centre and yoga provide ways to slow down between outings. Evenings have a distinctive social rhythm, with formal five-course dining, cocktails and parlour games. Sonop suits travellers who enjoy both the remoteness of a desert camp and a carefully staged sense of occasion, with time to explore during the day and linger at the lodge afterwards.
