Cairns looks out towards the reef, but there is plenty to enjoy before stepping aboard a boat. The Esplanade, tropical gardens and galleries make easy additions to a city stay, while Palm Cove offers beachfront restaurants and a gentler resort rhythm to the north. Central Cairns is the practical choice for early marina departures; Palm Cove suits longer poolside afternoons. Leave time for Kuranda or an Indigenous-led experience to see more of the landscape beyond the waterfront.
