Gran Canaria combines the dunes of Maspalomas with pine-covered mountains, whitewashed villages and the lively streets of Las Palmas. Walk the seafront at Las Canteras, explore Vegueta around its cathedral, then head inland towards Tejeda and the volcanic silhouette of Roque Nublo. The south has the largest concentration of resorts, while Agaete and the northern countryside feel quieter. Distances can be deceptive on winding mountain roads, so allow time between the coast and the interior.
