Sapporo combines broad city streets and lively food districts with wooded hills and hot springs. Walk through Odori Park, explore the seafood stalls at Nijo Market and head to Maruyama for Hokkaido Shrine and some of the city’s finest restaurants. Moerenuma Park rewards a longer outing, while Jozankei offers a quieter stay beside the river. Winter brings skiing at Teine and snow-covered streets; warmer months open up parks, terraces and the surrounding countryside.
