Seville rankings
Seville rewards a stay that leaves room between the headline sights. The Alcázar, Cathedral and Giralda give the city its monumental centre, but its character also emerges in tiled patios, neighbourhood workshops and evenings organised around the table. Choose a hotel for the atmosphere you want to return to: the ceremonial scale of Alfonso XIII, the discretion of a restored townhouse or the independent rhythm of Triana across the river. Food deserves its own itinerary. Contemporary Andalusian tasting menus sit alongside seafood specialists and dining rooms where the pleasure is in ingredients, wine and unhurried service. Our selection favours those distinctions over a uniform idea of luxury. A small restaurant can be as compelling as a grand hotel dining room. Build mornings around a single major monument, then allow time for gardens, ceramics or a quieter palace. A flamenco performance is best treated as the main event of an evening. For a first stay, we suggest three or four nights: enough to explore both banks of the Guadalquivir without turning Seville into a checklist.
