Tromsø

Tromsø sits between mountains and Arctic water, with wooden streets, a busy harbour and restaurants serving fish from northern waters. The Polar Museum recalls the journeys that set out from here; across the bridge, Tromsdalen leads towards the Arctic Cathedral and Fjellheisen cable car. Winter brings long nights and the chance of northern lights, while summer changes the city with extended daylight. The compact centre is easy to explore, but excursions onto Kvaløya take you beyond town.
